Manifold
Manifolds should be located centrally for easy access once mounted and to allow water to flow efficiently through the pipe tails.

Zones
A zone is an area of living space, often one room, controlled by one thermostat. How you define a zone depends on how you intend to use different rooms.

As a general rule, small rooms with similar occupancy and comfort level to that of a larger adjoining room can be linked together as one temperature controlled zone. It is often uneconomical to control two independent rooms on the same zone, as the room without the thermostat is complete reliant on the environment in the other room.

Examples of acceptable zoning, includes:
- Bedroom with en-suite
- Hall with adjoining WC/cloaks room

Not acceptable would be kitchen and a living room on the same zone.

Zones
In the case of this Kitchen and Utility room, the designer has defined 2 zones. This is because 2 rooms have different occupancy and desire comfort levels.

Because of low occupancy levels and similar desired comfort levels the designer has chosen to link the Hall and W/C one temperature controlled zone.

Zone distances
Simply the distance from the manifold to where the pipe enters the zone. The pipe tail should be 100mm from the wall, and should not cross - so plan carefully.

We recommend that when using an Uponor One Pack the zone should be 10 metres max away from the manifold. If not, is it possible to relocate the manifold? If not please send your drawings.
